Learners under 18 can use Legal Eva only through an account created and managed by a parent or lawful guardian, who gives verifiable consent before we process the child’s personal data.
1. Who this applies to
Any learner under 18 years of age. Our courses are designed for learners aged 13 and above; we do not knowingly enrol children under 13.
2. Setting up a child’s account
- At sign-up we ask for date of birth. If the learner is under 18, sign-up switches to the parent flow.
- The parent or guardian creates the account in their own name and adds the child as a learner profile.
- We verify that the parent is an identifiable adult, using details we already hold or details they provide, or a virtual token issued by an authorised entity such as DigiLocker.
- The parent reads this Policy and the Privacy Policy and gives consent. The parent makes all payments and accepts the Terms on the child’s behalf.
3. What we do and do not do with children’s data
- We collect only what is needed to teach: name, age, course progress, assessments and certificates.
- We do not track or behaviourally monitor children for advertising, and we do not show them targeted ads.
- We do not set marketing cookies on child profiles.
- We do not process children’s data in ways likely to harm their well-being.
- Leaderboards and public profiles show only a first name or nickname unless the parent opts in to more.
4. Parent controls and rights
From the parent dashboard you can see the child’s progress, change privacy settings, download or correct data, withdraw consent and close the profile. Requests can also be sent to info@legaleva.com.
5. Safeguarding in live classes and community spaces
5.1 Instructors and mentors who teach under-18 batches pass identity and background verification before they start.
5.2 All teaching and messaging happens on the Platform. Staff may not contact learners under 18 by personal phone, personal social media or private calls, or meet them offline.
5.3 Live sessions for under-18 batches are recorded and may be reviewed for safety; parents may attend or watch recordings.
5.4 Chat in under-18 batches is moderated and filtered. The Report button is available on every screen.
5.5 We act immediately on any safety concern, suspend the person involved pending review, inform the parent, and report offences under the Protection of Children from Sexual Offences Act, 2012 to the police or Special Juvenile Police Unit as the law requires.
6. Content suitability
Courses open to under-18 learners are reviewed for age-appropriate content and are marked on the course page.
